When images undergo level adjustments, rounding errors lead to
posterization of the image, where smooth gradients are converted to visible
color steps. Chasys Draw IES has a component that compensates for this effect;
it’s called the Anti-Quantization Engine (AQuE). The image below shows two images with
extreme leveling applied. The left has been leveled normally, while the right
has been leveled with the engine enabled:
All adjustments that involve level remapping have the option to use this engine. Unlike the older implementation, the new AQuE can and does run in realtime for live preview, allowing you to immediately see the effect of the processing applied on the output image.
